BLOG: Shaping the future of a digitised transport ecosystem

Nick Rens, WABCO President EMEA

Autonomous, connected, electric – these are all real transitions that the see transport industry is facing. To accelerate the adoption of these transitions we believe that the entire operational process will also need to radically evolve alongside the technological advancements of commercial vehicles. The entire truck, trailer and cargo markets will need to be fully integrated as part of a bigger network AND ensure they are also connected to the goods transportation ecosystem.

Turning data into actionable insights

With the significant expansion of digital IoT, big data-enabled and cloud-based technologies the transport ecosystem is already seeing the value of the exchange of data throughout the supply chain by connecting the many stakeholders within a transport process. Turning this data into actionable insights enables organizations to make smarter planning decisions to reduce costs, remove reliance on ‘tribal knowledge’, gain deeper and broader insights into their supply chains, dramatically improve decision-making processes and add further value for their customers.

Collaborating with trailblazing companies like TIP, we are able to support them at every stage of their journey to digitalization with advanced connectivity capabilities – before, during and after system integration. Such collaborations will become increasingly common in the future.

Our collaborative and innovative approach will help transport operators globally become radically leaner, greener and safer in their daily operational activities. We are serving as a reliable and strategic sparring partner for many players in the transport industry...and we’re still gaining speed.
